1969 Lambretta DL 125 Ancillotti

When you less expect you find something special. Of course today it's become very had to come by something particular, but still you never know. A nice day I find this Lambretta up for grabs. That seat told me lots of thing, so I contact the owner who lives no more than 15 miles from me and tell him I want to buy it. He says someone else is going to see the scooter so I think I've missed a nice bit of kit and don't think about it all the day. In the evening, to my big surprise, he calls me back to say that he didn't agree a price with the buyer. The following morning I am with him and we quickly find a deal. The scooter is running and is also quite quick, only missing bit is the SS carb because he couldn't get it to work right. Of course he cannot remember where it can be as this happened a long time ago. This is his own scooter since when he was 16 and bought it new in 1969. He did the Ancillotti conversion because he wanted it different so he also painted the front mudguard in red and chromed the headset top. Anyway this is the occasion to put on a scooter a couple of bits that had been lying in my shed for many years; a new old stock Amal carb and a Wildcat manifold. They are perfect on the scooter, very easy to tune. The scooter has been completely stripped, cleaned and overhauled and put back together without altering it, if not for the front fork and disc brake in a conserved state either. The picture has been taken at its first official outing, Perugia 2013 for the Borgobello trophy. A real fun to ride!
